HSSA's Lost & Found staff works full time to reunite pets and their owners. We operate a telephone service and computer database with descriptions of found animals and those reported to us each day. There is no charge for our lost and found service.
If you find a stray, contact us immediately so we may help search for its owner. Our lost and found phone number is 327.6088, ext. 111.
Owners of missing pets should act immediately! Don't assume the pet will come home on its own. Please take the following actions at minimum:
File a lost report and make a personal search of our shelter at 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd. every other day. Our lost and found phone number is 327.6088, ext. 111.
Call Pima Animal Care Center at 243.5900, and visit their shelter in person at 4000 N. Silverbell Road at least every other day to view all incoming animals. (Frequent, personal visits are important; do not rely on phone information alone!)
Immediately talk to neighbors and post notices throughout the neighborhood and at all major intersections near where the pet was lost.
As soon as possible, place a "Lost Animal" ad in the TNI Classifieds at 573.4343. Please also check the found ads in the TNI Classifieds on a daily basis.
If your pet has been brought to us as a stray, please check the chart at right for the reclaiming fees.
There may be an additional charge for emergency injury/medical fees if your animal was injured or sick when we received them.
Additional Dog Requirements
In addition, if your dog was unlicensed when it was brought to us, you will need to pay for licensing your animal(s). Please bring your proof of rabies vaccination or we will be required to vaccinate the animal for you for an additional fee of $13.00.
The proof of rabies vaccination, or immunization for rabies must be done before we can release your animal to you.
If you have found a stray dog or cat that has identification tags, please call the owner immediately. If the animal does not have identification tags please bring it to our shelter, or call in a found report to 327.6088, ext. 111 as soon as possible.
Time is critical in returning the pet to its rightful owner. We will work diligently to find its owner. Please be prepared to provide us with as much information as possible about the location where it was found, its health, temperament, and any available information. This will help us in locating the pet's owner, or in making the best possible decision about its adoptability and future.
If you have found a pet, take the following steps:
File a found report with our shelter at 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd. Our lost and found phone number is 327.6088, extension 111.
In addition to the other steps you can take should you lose a pet, posting notices in your neighborhood can increase the chances that you will be reunited.
