The HSSA maintains a "wish list" of adopters ready to adopt a specific breed or species of animal. Whether you are looking for a particular breed of dog or cat, a pot bellied pig, a hamster, or any other domestic animal, we may be able to help through our Companion Connection program.
Please be aware that we have no way of knowing what animals will be turned over to our facility each day, but the selection does vary widely. We do our best to match each available animal to the most compatible adopter on our Companion Connection list prior to placing the animal into the general adoption area. We have had great success with this program, and have found the perfect companion for many families and individuals in our community.
While there is no charge to be added to the list, we do appreciate donations to offset the cost of additional effort in staff time to facilitate these special connections. As with any HSSA adoption, we do require that you come to the shelter or adoption facility in person, complete an adoption profile, and be interviewed by one of our adoption counselors.
Please Note: Certain breeds of dogs and cats may be in high demand and wait times can be 6 months to 3 years depending on the desired animal and compatiblity with households. We make no promises or guarantees that when placed on the wish list, adopters will receive their preferred pet.
