July Weekday Workshops > Expanded in 2008
JUNIOR WORKSHOPS (ages 6 to 10):
• NEW: Tuesday, July 8th: “Fur, Footprints and Faithfulness: Animal Symbolism from Around the World”
From our very earliest days, human beings have looked for their reflection in other creatures... Whether it be the strength
of a bear or the parenting skills of the wolf. Kids will get to design their own coat of arms complete with animal symbols
that represent their personality and interests. 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• NEW: Tuesday, July 15th: “Animal Tech”
Why did nature engineer cats with whiskers, birds with feathers or armadillos with shells? This workshop examines
some of the amazing adaptations of animals and will culminate in participants designing their own animals with its own
unique “tech.” 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 22nd: “Animal Grooming 101”
This class features hands-on activities with animals as youngsters learn how to safely approach, interact with and groom
dogs. Grooming experts will be on-hand to help the kids with this new skill. The program begins with classroom sessions
on safety around animals, understanding canine body language and related information. 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
SENIOR WORKSHOPS (ages 11 to 14):
• NEW: Thursday, July 10th: “Compassion & Commitment: Careers That Help Animals”
