"Paws & Claws" 2007 Update

The 1st Annual Paws & Claws event took place on January 26th, 2008.

HSSA was there with several lovable animals, 5 of whom found a home!

Participating stores in the plaza donated a percentage of their profits to the Humane Society and held raffles. The plaza was filled with people and pups pawing through the plaza and looking at pet-related vendors.

The plaza also held a raffle for a $1000 shopping spree! Over $5300 was raise to benefit the animals in our care.

Reindog Parade 2007 Update

If you missed the 2nd Annual Reindog Parade, you missed out on some of the best-dressed Hounds in town.

On Dec. 2nd 2007, people entered their festive pooches in a parade at the Botanical Gardens. Costumes ranged from a 180 pound Santa St. Bernard, to a Beekeeper with a very large bumblebee. 21 dogs pranced through the gardens with the real Santa.

Despite the weather, the parade was great fun for 2 great non-profits. Make sure you are there for the fun next year!

Body Mind Spirit Event

The Body Mind Spirit Event was held on November 3, 2007 from 10am-5pm. It was held in the peaceful backyard of Those Feng Shui Guys. Attendees enjoyed services from the following practitioners: Astrology, Intuitive Guidance, Yoga Therapy, Nerve Assist, Chair Massage, Space Clearing, Nine Star Ki Elemental Analysis, Reiki/Chakra Balancing, Eastern/Western Vet Medicine, and I Ching Divination.

Almost $900 was rasied and it was such a fun and unique experience!

Reindog Parade 2006 Update

The first Reindog Parade was held at the Tucson Botanical Gardens on Saturday, December 2nd.  Over 50 dogs dressed in costume paraded with Santa through the beautiful gardens.  

Contest winners included Best Overall Costume, Best Owner/Dog Costume, Best Puppy Costume, Best Senior Costume, Best Horticultural Interpretation, Best Leash Decoration and Best Owner/Dog Look-a-like. Judges Chuck George (KOLD Meteorologist), Alan Michaels (Cool 1450 Radio Personality), Mayor Bob Walkup and Debbie Larson (Tucson Home & Garden) had a tough time picking the winners!  Prizes were supplied by Paws & Claws, a pet boutique located on Campbell Avenue.  

Topping the event off were photos with Santa!  The event raised funds for the Tucson Botanical Gardens and The Humane Society of Southern Arizona.  The 2007 Reindog event is scheduled fro December 1st from 9-noon.
