Help Us Grow Our New Education Resource Center >
In May 2006, the Humane Society expanded its commitment to education and community outreach through the establishment of our new Education & Cruelty Prevention Resource Center.
Located just half a block from the shelter, the Resource Center contains a full research library, offices for education department and volunteers and facilities for detectives and officers working with the Animal Cruelty Taskforce of Southern Arizona.
The Center also has a large yard which we would like to make ready for children’s programs and small events by upgrading the landscaping and providing more conveniences. Toward this end, we are asking for your help through the donation of the following items:
• Gardening tools (used but still useable
is fine), including shovels, trowels,
rakes, hoes, watering buckets, shears
and pruning tools, etc.
• Indoor / outdoor potting soil in
large bags
• Gift certificates or monetary donations
to purchase desert, low-water use
plants (please do not donate live
plants, but seeds are OK), solar
lighting, water capture and retention
devices, etc.
• Liquid plant food (multipurpose)
All donations are tax-deductible and we will be happy to provide you with receipts. Most of the gardening will be done by child and teen volunteers as part of their community service to HSSA. By having young people practice gardening skills, we help to reinforce their appreciation for the natural world!
