The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is committed to the protection of all animals and the prevention of cruelty and neglect.  Our expansive animal cruelty prevention programs are housed in our Education and Cruelty Prevention Resource Center located at 3402 E. Kleindale Road, Tucson.  The Resource Center is intended to be used as central hub for humane education and community outreach programs in southern Arizona.  Among its elements is the newly expanded Resource Library which contains thousands of resources including books, magazines, videotape and informational files on topics related to animals, conservation, the environment and various social concerns. 

In addition to this valuable resource, the Center also houses an office for the Animal Cruelty Taskforce and our own newly formed Animal Cruelty Investigator.  Our ACI is Michael W. Duffey, a retired Pima County Sheriff’s Department detective and lead animal cruelty investigator for the county for eight years.  In his new civilian position with HSSA, Mike brings over thirty years of law enforcement experience and will act not only as a resource to local enforcement agencies, but as a lecturer and educator.  You can download PDFs describing the wide variety of trainings Mike offers at right.  If you are interested in scheduling these trainings for your agency, please contact Marsh Myers, Director of Community Outreach, Monday through Friday at 520. 881.7401 or mmyers@hssaz.org.
