The adoption process begins with a visit to our
facility at 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd. You may also adopt a pet at one
of our mobile adoption
sites.
HSSA places thousands of companion animals
each year into the lifelong care of responsible, loving homes.
We use an application and interview process to ensure that each
animal adopted will be matched with the most compatible new owner.
You can also view our adoptable animals online. View list and pictures of available animals for adoption.
Before you come view our animals, please read our online
adoption profile, print it out and complete it, or
you can pick one up when you come into the shelter. When you come
see us, please complete your adoption profile first (if you haven't
already done so), then put your name on our sign-in sheet. Take
a look around at the animals. Our dogs are located through the
door on the left side of the adoption area; our cats are located
directly behind the adoption counter. Do not hesitate to ask for
help if you need assistance.
One of our adoption counselors will be happy to answer all your
questions and give you background information on the animal that
interests you. All members of the household (including other current
household dogs, if possible) should be present to ensure the chosen
pet is compatible with everyone.
We update our online listings at Pefinder.com daily, so there is a chance that an animal listed will have already
been adopted. Therefore, we suggest that web visitors find several
animals that interest them, and then go to the shelter for a personal
visit. We have dozens of great animals available for adoption
every single day, and the only true way to appreciate them is
to visit them personally! We look forward to seeing you soon!
